Health, Safety, and Environment Advisor

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team at Elgin Energy EsCo Ltd. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of HSE throughout our project pipeline, from development to construction and energization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement HSE Documentation
Develop, update, and implement health and safety and environment policies and procedures in line with UK legislation, industry best practices, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
Provide Advice and GuidanceOffer advice and guidance to management, supervisors, and workers on health and safety matters, including safe work practices, equipment usage, and emergency procedures.
Plan for HSESet realistic short and long-term objectives, decide priorities, and establish adequate systems and performance standards.
Review HSE System PerformanceAudit periodically the whole health and safety and environmental management system, promoting continuous improvement.
Conduct Risk AssessmentsIdentify potential hazards in the workplace, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
Monitor ComplianceRegularly inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety and environment regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Coordinate with Construction Project ManagerEnsure contractors, their sub-contractors, and/or agents carry out all activities in a safe and controlled manner in accordance with appropriate Health and Safety and Environment policies and procedures, in accordance with the CDM 2015 - Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
Supervise the Implementation of Collective and Personal Protective EquipmentEnsure the good use of Collective and Personal Protective Equipment on site.
Ensure Correct Reporting of HSE IncidentsIdentify hazards, intervenient, and associated mitigation measures and relevant reviews of work procedures.
Deliver TrainingPlan and deliver health and safety and environment training programs for employees, including induction training for new workers, toolbox talks, and specialized training for specific tasks or hazards.
Liaise with AuthoritiesServe as the primary point of contact for health and safety and environment inspections conducted by regulatory authorities and ensure prompt resolution of any identified issues.
Participate in HSE MeetingsParticipate in HSE meetings, internal and external with Contractors and Suppliers.
Maintain RecordsMaintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training activities, and safety-related documentation as required by regulations and company policies.
Report Health and Safety and Environment KPIsReport Health and Safety and Environment KPIs on a monthly basis.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced HSE professional with a strong background in managing HSE aspects within the renewable energy sector in the UK. The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant third-level qualification in health and safety management, environment, engineering – construction sector, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.
- In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Minimum of 3-5 years Health & Safety experience within the construction industry, preferably on large scale energy projects or HV projects.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering health and safety training.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in communication, resource management, and the use of software, particularly Microsoft Office suite.
- Valid driver's license for the UK.
