As a Landscape Caretaker, you will be an integral part of our gardening team, engaging in all facets of landscape management at our estate. Your responsibilities will include daily upkeep and ensuring the highest standards of horticultural practice; you will also enhance the visitor experience within the gardens and surrounding areas. Occasional weekend, bank holiday, and evening work may be required.

We encourage you to submit a cover letter with your application, detailing how your skills align with this role and what unique contributions you can make to our landscape.

Working Environment

The estate features a grade 1 listed mansion set within a 25-acre garden, surrounded by 910 acres of parkland and scenic countryside. The property showcases a rich history, reflecting its late Victorian period when it was home to a prominent family and their staff.

The garden team is led by the Head Gardener and includes a Senior Gardener, two Grade 9 Gardeners (including this position), a Seasonal Gardener, and a Garden Apprentice, along with a growing number of volunteers.

Your Responsibilities

You will play a key role in maintaining the garden and estate to the highest standards on a daily basis.

This position primarily involves managing the Woodland Garden, collaborating with team members. Daily tasks will include seasonal pruning, mulching, planting, chainsaw operation, tractor driving, strimming, and other machinery operations. You will also conduct safety checks to ensure visitor safety, perform health and safety assessments, and manage tree safety surveys.

Additional duties will encompass assisting the team with the overall maintenance of various garden areas, including lawn care, trimming of hedges, waste management, planting, weeding, and upkeep of estate entrances.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a skilled Landscape Caretaker with relevant qualifications and experience in horticulture, including tree and shrub identification and management. The ideal candidate will possess:
