Financial Accounting and Tax Manager

Our client, a reputable accountancy firm based in North Yorkshire, is seeking a highly skilled Personal Tax Manager to join their team. As a key member of the tax department, you will be responsible for managing a range of tax-related tasks, including planning opportunities, self-assessment tax returns, and trust and estate tax returns.
Key Responsibilities:- Identification of planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities
- Preparation of self-assessment tax returns for wealthy individuals, partnerships, and trusts
- Completion of associated tax computations, including capital gains on securities, chattels, and property transactions
- Management of trust and estate tax returns
- Liaising with clients to ensure technical competence and accuracy of the department's work
- Budgeting and adherence to statutory and other deadlines
- Meeting billing targets and monitoring time and recovery for the group
- Reporting back to partners and assisting with the management of the group
The North Yorkshire Tax department is a dynamic team of 20 professionals, working with a diverse range of clients, including owner-managed businesses, landed estates, and high-net-worth individuals. The team is committed to delivering exceptional service and expertise to clients, and we are seeking a like-minded individual to join our team.
The Office:Our client's office is located in a modern, friendly building in a popular town centre, with approximately 65 staff. The office is easily accessible by public transport, and the team enjoys a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Requirements:- Similar experience in a tax-focused or general practice role in a medium to large-sized firm
- Experience in a similar role of organizing the delivery of tax work, problem-solving, and using your own initiative
- Experience in a similar role of preparing computations from accounts
- Experience in a similar role of advisory work or a strong desire to learn and use tax legislation to arrive at conclusions
- Experience in a similar role of either personal tax, trusts, or both, with a willingness to develop your knowledge on both
- Experience of using computerized tax packages (or equivalent)
The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar level role and have dealt with a range of tax issues appropriate to our client's customer base. Similar experience operating Assistant Manager or Manager level, CTA, and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
Salary and Benefits:- 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-4pm
- Working from home allowance of £25 a month
