We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Ophthalmology team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Staff Nurse, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to our patients and contributing to the development of our team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and specialist clinical discipline, providing care to children and young people with ophthalmic conditions. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including doctors, orthoptists, and optometrists, to deliver seamless care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating and providing skilled nursing care to patients, in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Participating in the continued development of nursing, including the supervision, teaching, and development of junior nurses and support staff.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an allocated patient group, considering individual needs and using prioritization and delegation skills.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate holistic care delivery for all Trust patients.
  • Providing leadership to junior staff and managing the ward/unit in the absence of the ward manager.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma Level Education as a Registered Nurse (RN Child, RNLD, or RSCN).
  • Willingness to undertake leadership/management training.
  • Teaching, mentoring, and assessing qualification.
  • Current registration with the NMC.
  • Relevant post-registration qualification as required for the specialty.
  • Willingness to undertake study at degree level.
  • Relevant post-basic registration course leadership and management training.
