About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team at PMC. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials and services in line with our sales planning process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase all materials and services in accordance with our sales planning process.
  • Identify safety stock levels and develop a strategic plan for long-term and PMC-specific items to maintain optimum stock levels.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of supply as required, including price increases.
  • Source new suitable suppliers for existing and new materials.
  • Enhance the purchasing function and continuously improve its operation.
  • Work with production and engineering to identify make-or-buy possibilities with cost-benefit analysis.
  • Control an agreed monthly budget on purchases against production schedule value.
  • Ensure timely delivery of purchase orders.
  • Produce a monthly cash flow report.
  • Liaise with other departments to advise on schedule changes.
  • Ensure purchasing records are updated and maintained for system integrity.
  • Report monthly on stock value, purchase orders value, and stock shortfall against works orders plan.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure satisfactory supply of goods for new products.
  • Manage engineer change notices.
  • Review, manage, and continuously improve supplier performance.
  • Work in accordance with our business processes and procedures.
  • Occasionally travel to visit suppliers and the head office in Biggleswade as required.
  • Cooperate in undertaking the work of absent colleagues or assisting in other departments.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of purchasing experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with SAP would be beneficial.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Positive representation of the business.
  • Good computer literacy in Microsoft Office software.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Detail-oriented and good time management.
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills.
  • Hold a current driving license.
