Job Overview

Our client, a leading quantitative hedge fund, is in search of a senior or principal level software engineer from a cutting-edge technical environment. This role requires an individual who has a proven track record in developing innovative technical solutions that can transform or enhance their industry, although experience in the financial sector is not a prerequisite.

This discreet and successful quantitative hedge fund is looking for a product-oriented Staff / Principal Engineer to contribute to the development of their next-generation Quantitative Research platform.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a solution-oriented senior technical leader within the organization, delivering technical thought leadership and hands-on support for impactful projects.
  2. Collaborate closely with researchers and data scientists to create iterative, insight-driven product solutions, ensuring the design and engineering of efficient, scalable, and robust systems.
  3. Tackle large-scale financial data challenges, enhancing service latency and performance for real-time data streaming and analytics.
  4. Identify and assess technical solutions and innovations that can provide a competitive edge and directly influence trading and portfolio management.
  5. Mentor and guide engineers at various levels, offering support in their technical development.
  6. Establish and uphold coding standards, conduct code reviews, and implement testing practices.
  7. Advocate for engineering best practices across teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Solid foundation in computer science with extensive knowledge of data structures, algorithms, runtime complexity, API, and database design, ideally holding a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with advanced end users, such as researchers and data scientists with MSc or PhD qualifications.
  • Expertise in engineering platform solutions for systems of significant scale and complexity.
  • Extensive professional experience in object-oriented software development, particularly using Python, and Java or C++.
