Job Description

Job Title: Digital Modelling Manager

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will work independently on the design and packaging of all aspects of current and future vehicle platforms and products, managing a team of digital modellers with diverse skill sets.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Team Management: Ensure the delivery of premium quality CAD solutions to support design and engineering intent while meeting key programme timing and budget constraints.
  • Workload Planning: Plan and prioritize digital modelling team workload utilizing permanent and agency resources.
  • Resource Allocation: Provide accurate estimates for resource and time scales to enable efficient programme timing while maintaining best possible output from the design studio.
  • CAD Standards: Establish and develop CAD delivery standards to ensure premium CAD delivery regardless of surface CAD package used.

Supporting Production:

  • Design Feasibility: Ensure the integration of a high degree of feasibility in design properties prior to downstream engineering, taking a proactive role in suggesting and implementing design ideas using experience and judgment.
  • Cost and Efficiency: Support the development of key cost and efficiency processes with the design studio, maximizing output, minimizing cost, and producing the best aesthetics possible.
  • External Supply Budget: Support the organization and management of external supply budget to support premium automotive design solutions.
  • Technical Expertise: Act as a technical expert for Class A production digital solutions with the design studio.
  • CAD Solutions: Support the entire design studio and external departments of the company with feasible CAD solutions to design proposals and actively suggest/implement solutions using experience and judgment.
  • Technical Developments: Monitor, justify, and implement technical developments within the industry, with particular reference to the evolution of new technologies that could affect design processes.
  • Craftsmanship Standards: Drive craftsmanship standards from within the design studio to further improve the quality of production solutions.
  • Revenue Generation: Support the identification of alternative and diverse sources of revenue that draw upon the range of disciplines within the design studio.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate must be fully CAD literate and able to use a range of CAD tools to create and evaluate CAD work undertaken. Additionally, they must be PC literate and able to use and understand a range of PC software to support the design process.
