Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Support Education Health Care Assistant to join our team at a local school in Hillingdon. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to students with special educational needs, including those with Moderate Learning Difficulty (MLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty (PMLD), and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement Behaviour Modification Interventions: Work with pastoral staff and subject teachers to develop and implement behaviour modification interventions to address specific issues affecting students with emotional or mental health needs.
  • Support Holistic Progress: Facilitate emotional and behavioural support to individuals and small groups, using a variety of intervention strategies to promote holistic progress.
  • Deliver Intervention Programmes: Deliver programmes of specific intervention, such as mental and emotional health, self-esteem, anger-management, and self-awareness, to groups and individuals.
  • Improve Punctuality and Attendance: Work with students to improve punctuality and levels of attendance, and to ease their return to school following prolonged absence.
  • Work with SENCO and Teaching Staff: Work under the guidance of the SENCO, teaching, and senior staff to implement agreed interventions and programmes of work.
  • Support Individuals and Groups: Work with individuals and groups of students, having received prior information about their current behavioural issues, academic levels, and reason for referral, from the appropriate Head of Year.
  • Create a Calm Working Atmosphere: Create a calm, working atmosphere with the minimum of disturbance and confrontation, while applying the whole school expectations assertively and fairly.

Requirements:

  • Child Workforce DBS: Hold a valid Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service.
  • Right to Work in the UK: Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Previous SEND Experience: Have previous experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
