Job Title: Study Skills Tutor and Mentor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Study Skills Tutor and Mentor to join our team at The Learning Support Centre. As a Study Skills Tutor and Mentor, you will play a vital role in providing tuition in study skills to disabled people and individuals with specific learning differences, including Asperger's and Autism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one study skills tuition to clients, enabling them to develop independent learning strategies to compensate for their learning differences.
  • Adapt your approach to meet the changing needs of individual learners, while working within our Quality Assurance Framework.
  • Deliver tuition according to our guidelines and code of conduct to ensure effective learning outcomes.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional travel, to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Complete Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for each learner.
  • Attend relevant training and meetings, and develop existing skills to enhance your practice.
  • Contribute to the development of study skills resources for our staff portal.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student progress and team development.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation and professionalism, representing The Learning Support Centre at all times.
Requirements:
  • A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification, such as Autism Studies or Psychology.
  • Teaching qualification, such as a Full PGCE or Cert Ed.
  • National Autistic Society (NAS) training, including Understanding Autism and Autism and SPELL in higher education.
  • Experience in assessing learner needs and devising Individual Learning Plans.
