We are seeking an experienced Freight Operations Manager to oversee the end-to-end operations and successful execution of all sea freight imports and exports for our client, a leading international freight forwarder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of 10 professionals to ensure efficient and effective ocean freight operations
  • General day-to-day running of the UK sea freight office, including warehouse management, health and safety, office maintenance, and employee holidays
  • Handle import and export consignments via sea freight
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance and implement continuous improvement
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction
  • Oversee team performance and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Collaborate with customs brokers and other authorities to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Maintain a strong focus on health and safety practices to ensure a secure working environment for all team members

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in ocean freight operations, customs clearance, and international trade regulations
  • Air freight knowledge is an advantage
  • Previous experience as an ocean freight operations manager
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, suppliers, and the wider team
  • Ability to develop trust and respect from colleagues and clients
  • Identify problems early and respond in a timely fashion
