Position Summary:

Interv_l Group | B Corp™ is a leader in sustainable energy solutions, focusing on the production of electricity through renewable sources such as wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and energy storage. The engineering team collaborates closely with the project development unit to assess grid capacity within the UK's transmission and distribution systems for renewable energy initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing grid capacity ranging from 11kV to 400kV within the UK's transmission and distribution networks for solar, wind, energy storage, and hybrid generation technologies.
  • Working in partnership with the project development team to identify viable project locations.
  • Conducting feasibility studies for grid connections, collaborating with various teams to evaluate land constraints and availability, and managing applications for grid connections at both distribution and transmission levels.
  • Performing necessary calculations or simulations for G99 forms and/or DRC information, creating single-line diagrams to support grid connection applications, and facilitating discussions with Distribution Network Operators (DNO), Transmission Operators (TO), and the Electricity System Operator (ESO).
  • Maintaining and updating models and scripts for site identification, reviewing grid connection offers, and gathering, updating, and managing public data from DNO, TO, and ESO resources.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline, with demonstrable experience in the power systems sector within the UK.
  • Familiarity with the UK grid connection regulatory framework and proficiency in electrical software such as IPSA is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in project teams across various disciplines.
  • Desirable experience includes prior engagement with DNO, TO, ESO, or consultancy, as well as knowledge of renewable energy technologies such as Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Wind.
  • Understanding of public data sources like LTDS, ETYS, and NOA is also beneficial.
