About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Funding Manager to join our team in Europe. As a key member of our conservation team, you will play a critical role in securing public funding for our conservation projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage public funding proposals for European public funding agencies, ensuring high-quality applications that meet the requirements of our conservation projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with European public funding agencies, conservation organizations, and other partners to secure funding for our projects.
  • Collaborate with our conservation delivery and policy teams to ensure that funding proposals are crafted in a clear and compelling manner, communicating the technical and scientific nature of our global programs.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of European public funding priorities, trends, and developments, and advise colleagues on relevant opportunities and requirements.
  • Manage critical tracking tools, including an information database for proposals, an opportunity pipeline, a calendar of submissions and other deadlines, and an overview of how project teams are delivering to public funders' delivery milestones.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or other relevant professional qualification in a related field, and a minimum of 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience writing, editing, and proofreading public funding proposals for public agencies, either in corporate, public, or private sector contexts.
  • Experience implementing and managing multiple complex projects, with a strong track record of delivering results.
  • Familiarity with European-based public funding agencies, and experience working in business development teams.
  • Fluency in English, and proficiency in other European languages is an asset.
  • Experience with client management databases and tracking tools, and the ability to prioritize projects to meet deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience, particularly in French-speaking countries.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in business, sustainability, or fundraising.
  • Experience coordinating complex projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams, operating units, and functions to achieve optimal results.
  • Experience building networks or organizational capacity, facilitating informational sessions, increasing internal knowledge and capacity, and identifying key stakeholders.
  • Experience negotiating complex agreements and contracts, and familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
