Michael Page is seeking a Power BI Consultant to collaborate with the finance leadership team and enhance the analytical capabilities within the organization. This role is pivotal in delivering advanced reporting and visualization solutions for strategic planning, financial forecasting, and investment analysis.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing, managing, and optimizing the existing Power BI environment utilized by the finance department.
  • Working alongside various teams to improve and expand the use of Power BI for reporting purposes.
  • Delivering scheduled reports and conducting ad-hoc analyses that provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Focusing on financial metrics from revenue to gross margin, offering insights to key stakeholders regarding profitability and industry performance.
  • Establishing clear performance assessment criteria for assets using both leading and lagging indicators, while collaborating cross-functionally to enhance asset performance.
  • Identifying forecast discrepancies through variance and trend analysis, thereby improving forecast accuracy and establishing a continuous feedback mechanism with commercial teams.
  • Supporting the annual business planning cycle through thorough evaluation and critique of long-term asset forecasts.
  • Creating Power BI dashboards that utilize financial metrics and KPIs to present a comprehensive view of business performance.
  • Developing database tools and processes to enhance the delivery of market intelligence to stakeholders, leveraging both internal and external data sources.
  • Utilizing strong data integration and ETL skills with SQL/SSIS to ensure data quality within Power BI.
  • Collaborating with IT to expand the capabilities and functionality of the data platform and Power BI datasets.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in developing databases and tools for managing and interpreting large datasets using Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • In-depth knowledge of ETL processes, database management, and data integration techniques.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a knack for presenting insights in a clear and concise manner.
  • Exceptional presentation and data visualization skills to convert complex data into understandable information.
  • Proven track record in creating impactful dashboards in Power BI.
  • A relevant finance background, ideally within a large finance or FP&A team.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
  • A technical mindset coupled with a natural curiosity for data.
