Position Overview
As a Workshop Technician, your primary responsibility will be the upkeep and evaluation of the company's subsea intervention tools, ensuring compliance with approved specifications, material lists, and operational procedures. You will uphold the highest standards of quality and professionalism in alignment with the company’s Business Management System and project-specific guidelines.
Your role will also involve maintaining rigorous health and safety standards, prioritizing the well-being of all personnel and the environment. You will conduct Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks before commencing any tasks, adhering to all necessary documentation and ensuring that all records related to experience, competency, and factory acceptance testing are current.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and address personal training needs, communicating them to the department manager and utilizing available training opportunities.
- Continuously seek innovative working methods, technologies, and cost-saving measures to enhance performance.
- Provide accurate updates to the Workshop Supervisor regarding job statuses and potential issues.
- Complete workshop reports for tooling refurbishments and maintain the company's equipment, reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization within the workshop and during off-site visits.
- Facilitate effective communication and feedback among team members and departments to foster continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have completed a recognized apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a modern apprenticeship at a minimum of SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent). Experience with small bore tubing and pressure testing of hydraulic components is essential, along with hands-on experience in mechanical and hydraulic systems and schematics.
Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting hydraulic and mechanical engineering challenges are required, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Familiarity with ROV tooling, ROV systems, robotics, and an understanding of electrical/electronic principles and subsea control systems will be advantageous.
