About the Position

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will join the Seafood Economic Analysis and Marketing Research (SEAMaR) team at the Virginia Seafood AREC (VSAREC) as a key member. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and compilation of datasets focused on the U.S. seafood sector, including fisheries and aquaculture. This role will involve working with the SEAMaR team and a national network of collaborators to develop new tools and analysis for U.S. aquaculture, with a focus on key sectors such as catfish, trout, and oysters, as well as emerging sectors like marine finfish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and compilation of datasets focused on the U.S. seafood sector.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools and analysis for U.S. aquaculture.
  • Work with the SEAMaR team and a national network of collaborators to advance research goals.
  • Assist with project management and reporting on project activities.
  • Prepare deliverables, including presentations, reports, and peer-review manuscripts.
  • Participate in outreach activities and disseminate research findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in agricultural or applied economics or a related field, awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment.
  • Demonstrated experience with generating data, econometric analysis, and enterprise budgets and financial statements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and research experience in fisheries or aquaculture, seafood supply chains, and analytical methods such as technical efficiency analysis and risk modeling.
