Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary contact for clients alongside the Partner, responding promptly to client inquiries and proactively addressing their needs while keeping them updated on service progress.
  • Take full ownership of project execution for your client portfolio.
  • Oversee a client portfolio, ensuring compliance with billing and cash collection protocols.
  • Review work completed by junior team members.
  • Engage with HMRC as necessary.
  • Ensure that projects are completed within set budgets, informing clients and Partners of any overruns, and strategically planning staff assignments to ensure a balanced distribution of experience.
  • Adhere to the firm's quality control standards, including second partner reviews.
  • Identify risks and technical issues, as well as potential business opportunities, and communicate these to the Partner/Principal/Manager while exercising sound judgment within established guidelines.
  • Management Duties:
  • Support Partners/Managers with client matters and assist in the management of the team, including involvement in recruitment and staff management.
  • Collaborate with other Tax Managers within the business group and provide assistance to the broader Tax team.
  • Actively engage in group management through Partner/Manager meetings and participate in team-building events.
  • Deliver training to junior staff both on-the-job and through monitoring their performance, consistently providing constructive feedback.
  • Guide, evaluate, develop, and motivate team members as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Expertise in advising on the tax implications of share options and various forms of employee share ownership.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EMI, ESS, and related areas such as employment, NIC, and capital gains tax.
  • Knowledge of split interest, freezer, and nil paid arrangements.
  • Experience in preparing share valuations and liaising with HMRC.
  • Proven experience in staff management and mentoring.
  • Ability to effectively manage a client portfolio for profitability.
  • Demonstrated success in developing new client relationships and selling additional services to existing clients.
  • Awareness of the accounting, employment law, and company law implications related to share incentives.
  • Experience in direct client interactions, including fee negotiations.
  • Interest in broader HR and human capital considerations related to reward systems.
  • Degree-level education (LLB preferred) and/or CTA and/or ATT/ACA qualified or equivalent.
