Position Overview

As a Lead Civil/Structural Inspection Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and safety of civil and structural assets. This position involves working closely with clients to deliver high-quality inspection services that adhere to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct in-service inspections of civil and structural assets to meet both regulatory and client specifications.
2. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, developing inspection opportunities and understanding their ongoing requirements.
3. Prepare detailed proposals for inspection services, including scope definition and cost estimation.
4. Draft and review Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
5. Identify necessary plant preparation requirements based on the WSE.
6. Develop comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for inspections.
7. Perform examinations of civil and structural assets in accordance with established procedures.
8. Generate clear and concise written reports, supplemented by photographic evidence, in line with compliance requirements.
9. Assess asset deterioration and provide actionable recommendations.
10. Endorse reports with suggested next inspection dates and mandatory actions.
11. Deliver reports in formats that meet client preferences, whether electronic or hard copy.

Qualifications

- HNC/Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Incorporated Engineer status is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience & Skills

- Strong background in Civil and Structural Engineering.
- Proficient understanding of engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to identify defects and propose effective remedial solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in IT applications, including Microsoft Word and inspection reporting platforms.
- Detail-oriented with a strong adherence to procedural compliance.
- Capable of making informed decisions independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
- Experience in the chemical or oil & gas sectors is advantageous.
- Valid UK driving license required.
