Credit Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Controller to join our Finance team in Liverpool. As a Credit Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing debt levels and working closely with our legal teams to reduce overall debt.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain debt to an acceptable level within your own portfolio of work
- Participate in clearing aged debt to achieve Hill Dickinson's Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) target
- Reduce overall debt greater than 12 months
- Provide an excellent service to our clients (internal and external)
- Arrange and facilitate regular meetings with Partners and Fee Earners to discuss aged debt
- Attend and participate in team meetings
- Visit other UK offices to build and maintain strong relationships with Partners and Fee Earners
- Utilize automated debt chasing and work through daily tasks
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes where necessary
- Good overall knowledge of taking legal action, making business decisions on whether it is cost-effective to sue the client
- Demonstrable proven experience in a credit control environment in a previous role with knowledge of credit control activities
- Experience of working in a Law Firm
- Good analytic and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage and maintain own portfolio of work
- Understanding of other finance functions
- Good negotiation skills
- Aptitude to deal with people at all levels
- A calm and professional manner
- Sound IT skills across a broad range of applications including MS Excel
- Organized individual with good attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and ensure deadlines are met
- Ability to be assertive when handling difficult situations or people
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to use initiative, taking a proactive approach to working
- Experience using Aderant including the collections module
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience dealing with overseas clients and multi-currency invoices
