We are seeking a seasoned Operations Lead to join our team at Virani Food Products Limited, a leading spice, herbs, and seasoning food manufacturing company with a flour milling facility supplying to both retail consumers and manufacturing companies.

In this role, you will lead a talented team of engineers, spearheading Continuous Improvement Projects, overseeing Preventative Maintenance Schedules, and ensuring we meet all industry regulations. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate engineering leader to make a significant impact at a thriving company in the food manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering team, providing direction, training, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of all manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance Programs to minimize downtime and ensure efficient production.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and finance teams to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental policies.
  • Manage engineering projects from conception through to completion, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
  • Monitor and control engineering spend, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement within the engineering team and across the multi-site operations.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services and materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar field) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in an engineering management role within the food or drink manufacturing industry is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in manufacturing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
  • Positive mindset with a can-do attitude.
