Position Overview
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a Technical Solutions Architect with a background in integrated workplace management systems or related fields such as facilities management. The successful candidate will leverage their technical expertise to support the operational framework of a democratic institution.
As part of the Parliamentary Digital Service, you will take charge of the technical architecture, design, and implementation of the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS). Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed analyses of technical requests and challenges, converting these analyses into comprehensive technical designs that fulfill organizational requirements. Additionally, you will offer architectural guidance and on-demand support for various digital solutions within the Workplace Management and Built Environment sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership within the service team, ensuring that the technical direction and execution of the IWMS align with established standards, reference architectures, and strategic roadmaps, while collaborating with architectural peers as needed.
- Work alongside Enterprise Architects to comprehend Parliament's target architecture, ensuring that the deployment of workplace management digital capabilities is in sync with the overarching digital and technology strategies, as well as Parliament's objectives.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, collaborating with relevant teams to adhere to proper technical governance protocols and to implement suitable organizational standards and methodologies.
- Identify stakeholder needs and articulate how these translate into technical solutions, advising when technical constraints necessitate adjustments in business processes to achieve desired outcomes.
- Facilitate discussions between technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively resolving issues through clear and accessible communication.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience in a relevant technical capacity, showcasing a solid understanding of various architectures, technologies, and programming languages.
- Familiarity with reference architectures and the application of technology policies and technical standards, including experience in adhering to defined technical governance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders at both strategic and operational levels, effectively communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences while promoting values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Experience in supporting the implementation of digital solutions that drive business transformation, with a creative approach to problem-solving and a willingness to explore new methods and technologies.
- Capability to make informed, evidence-based decisions while considering risk and complexity, with an understanding of the implications of organizational context.
- Experience in supporting workplace management systems, such as IWMS, or facilities management and built environment solutions.
- Eligibility to obtain security clearance, supported by the right to work in the UK.

As a member of the Workplace Management Service Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the IWMS operates effectively, embedding best practice processes throughout Parliament and maintaining its capabilities to meet evolving business needs.
