Job Title: Child Care Lawyer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child Care Lawyer to join our busy Family Department in East Kent.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in a wide range of child care cases, including care and supervision orders, adoption, child protection, and child custody disputes.
  • Handle a varied caseload independently, managing meetings with social services, court appearances, and the drafting of legal documents, such as witness statements and court submissions.
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation in court proceedings, often appearing at family courts across Kent and occasionally at the High Court in London.
  • Advocate on behalf of children, parents, guardians, and family members, ensuring the welfare of the child is the priority.
  • Work closely with the Children Guardian in representing the interests of children in court proceedings.
Requirements:
  • Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive with Children Panel Accreditation.
  • Strong advocacy skills and experience with litigation and dispute resolution within child care law.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and work independently, including remote work when required for court commitments.
  • Excellent client care skills, with the ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism when handling sensitive and challenging cases.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment, ensuring attention to detail and excellent client care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
