Location: Marlborough Office
Company Overview: Sarah Ravens Kitchen & Garden is a prestigious online gardening enterprise known for its curated selection of plants, seeds, bulbs, and gardening tools, all personally chosen by the renowned author and broadcaster, Sarah Raven.
ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and imaginative Marketing Assistant to support our CRM Marketing Manager in executing our comprehensive multi-channel CRM strategy. This position presents an excellent opportunity for the selected candidate to gain a solid foundation in digital marketing while expanding their skill set under the guidance of an experienced CRM Manager in a thriving e-commerce environment.
This role is diverse and entry-level, allowing the successful candidate to express their creativity while also engaging in fundamental data analysis and administrative tasks. The Marketing Assistant will contribute to the execution of transactional, automated, and promotional email campaigns that align with our brand identity and broader business goals. We are looking for a creative individual with strong writing abilities and meticulous attention to detail to ensure that all marketing communications meet the highest standards.
If you are a natural collaborator who enjoys working in a team-oriented atmosphere, this role could be ideal for you. The Marketing Assistant will serve as a crucial liaison between various internal departments, optimizing marketing opportunities and enhancing our planning processes, website, and overall strategy. In addition to internal collaboration, the right candidate will also need to build relationships with our partner agencies, coordinating timelines for seasonal marketing initiatives and keeping all stakeholders informed throughout the process.
As part of this role, the Marketing Assistant will gather, present, and disseminate key statistics and current information regarding market conditions, competitor insights, and prevailing trends, as well as share vital data related to Sarah Raven's business performance. Therefore, some analytical skills are essential to assist the team in making informed, data-driven decisions and improving the customer experience across all marketing channels.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated individual interested in supporting acquisition and retention strategies to enhance key marketing channels. We are looking for someone eager to learn; thus, while existing horticultural knowledge is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive support to the CRM Marketing Manager and the broader Marketing Department in the briefing, creation, and production of both print and digital marketing materials.
- Assist in the creation, testing, implementation, and scheduling of business-as-usual campaigns across the email marketing channel by coordinating with the creative, buying, merchandising, and website teams to ensure brand consistency and a seamless customer journey.
- Develop a solid understanding of the content management system to help optimize the online customer experience and maintain consistency between digital marketing campaigns and key web landing pages.
- Collaborate with the Customer Services team and Operations Manager to ensure that all transactional and order-related emails function correctly and provide exceptional customer service.
- Support the ongoing development and testing of new automated email marketing series based on customer behavior and data-driven insights.
- Manage the daily upkeep of relevant marketing calendars and proactively share these with the wider business to ensure key stakeholders are aware of upcoming marketing activities and promotional plans.
- Work closely with the CRM Marketing Manager to assist in providing basic analysis that will inform more effective marketing strategies for both new and existing customers, including monitoring marketing-generated revenue and promotional performance.
- Gain a good working knowledge of the business's email service provider platform and commercial segments to support effective database management and growth.
- Stay informed about current industry trends and best practices by monitoring key competitor marketing channels.
- Act as a key point of contact in creating necessary briefs to support our print catalog production schedule, fostering effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet objectives and deadlines.
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as raising purchase orders, inputting data into the marketing budget tracker, and drafting meeting agendas and minutes.
- Embrace the core values of the Sarah Raven brand, focusing on building trust, valuing others, effective communication, responsible action, fostering innovation, customer-centricity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand account performance and key performance indicators.
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships; a team player who contributes positively to team culture and approaches tasks with a problem-solving mindset.
- Some knowledge of key marketing principles; however, we are willing to provide training for those eager to learn.
- A creative thinker capable of generating innovative ideas.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Desirable:
- Educated to degree level or completed a marketing-related qualification.
- Experience using an email service provider platform.
- Previous experience in a Marketing Team.
- A proactive approach to testing and optimizing campaigns.
