Locum Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive Ophthalmic service, with a special interest in Paediatrics.

The postholder will be responsible for providing a paediatric service within Ophthalmology, as well as being a capable general ophthalmologist able to undertake a general service provision. Proficiency in cataract surgery and a commitment to training are essential.

The ideal candidate will have experience of audit and teaching junior staff, as well as a specialist interest in a specialist area to complement the other consultants in the department. Publications in recognised journals and evidence of leadership are also desirable.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching and training of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals, both within the department and elsewhere within the Trust as appropriate. Regularly attending and participating in departmental educational meetings is also required.

• FRCOph or equivalent
• Completion of specialty training (or within 6 months of AAC)
• MD, PhD or other higher degree

• Experience of Audit
