Position Overview

Role Objective:
The primary focus of this position is to lead and enhance the operations of residential facilities while managing a dedicated team to fulfill this mission. You will provide support to children aged 8 to 18 who face complex behavioral, emotional, and social challenges, ensuring that their individual needs are prioritized.

Key Responsibilities
- Assume overall responsibility for managing service referrals from diverse sources, ensuring full occupancy.
- Develop a strategic plan for the service that guarantees the provision of high-quality, clinically informed practices.
- Ensure that all clinical practices and medication protocols within the facility comply with relevant legislation.
- Maintain safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, collaborating with designated personnel to uphold these standards.
- Conduct thorough risk and needs assessments for all children and young people in residence, ensuring regular reviews and updates.
- Provide high-quality support and transition services to young individuals, aligning with service specifications and placement plans mandated by local authorities.
- Uphold professional ethics and conduct among all staff members.
- Actively coordinate service delivery and serve as a central point for support, guidance, and coaching for all staff within the facility.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment, maintaining the building's physical condition and addressing repair issues promptly.
- Be accountable for liaising with regulatory bodies regarding the management of the facility.
- Adhere to the company's financial and administrative protocols while operating within a designated budget.
- Safeguard children and young people through effective management strategies, collaboration with external agencies, and compliance with local safeguarding procedures.
- Support staff in achieving the highest standards of care for all residents.
- Assist in the management, evaluation, supervision, and support of all residential staff.
- Oversee and monitor casework and administrative functions, including staff rotas, and assess performance standards.
- Participate in the recruitment process, including vetting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
- Be part of an on-call support system.
- Manage Support Workers and Support Assistants within the designated group.
- Foster and develop effective partnerships with stakeholders and commissioners, ensuring compliance with contracts and maintaining a positive reputation within the community.
- Facilitate the creation of various inclusion opportunities and activities for children and young people, working alongside support staff to enhance outcomes for those in care.
- Encourage the participation of children and young people in the home's operations, actively seeking their feedback and addressing concerns professionally while communicating relevant information to the staff team and partner agencies.
- Ensure that the home operates in compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines, including the Children’s Homes Regulations and associated Quality Standards.

Qualifications and Experience
- Essential qualifications include a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Children & Young People’s Services, or an equivalent qualification, or a commitment to undertake training within six months of starting employment.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in residential care within the last five years.
- At least one year of experience in supervising and managing professional staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Children’s Homes regulations, including Quality Standards and related legislation.
