Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our team at Wates. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will play a crucial role in delivering our Environmental Sustainability Plan by identifying energy and carbon hotspots, driving improvements, and implementing initiatives across our portfolio to reduce carbon emissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy, carbon, and environmental audits and inspections on our construction sites and with our supply chain partners to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide support and guidance to projects and departments on environmental and sustainability matters, ensuring compliance with international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
  • Liaise with procurement, supply chain, and commercial teams to engage our supply chain and drive carbon reduction measures, focusing on Science-Based Targets (SBTi) supplier targets.
  • Report and measure our environmental impact of projects and Business Units, with a particular focus on carbon and energy reporting for SBTi published targets.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of international standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 50001, BS EN 16247, and application of Environmental Management Systems.
  • Understanding of carbon accounting, SBTi, and GHG protocol, with the ability to translate these into practical sustainability solutions.
  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science or Management, Engineering (construction-related), or Architecture (or equivalent).
  • Graduate Member of a relevant professional body (ICE, IEMA, CIWM, IOA, ICE, CIBSE).
