Role Responsibilities

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a significant cryo-sample transfer and storage automation system. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the engineering innovation necessary for the creation of sample holder formats, cassettes, and shipping containers.
  • Conducting comprehensive research, development, and testing of components in cryogenic conditions.
  • Providing inventive and adaptable engineering solutions.
  • Utilizing CAD for engineering design production.
  • Performing static structural analysis with analytical and FEA tools.
  • Conducting thermal and cryogenic analysis using advanced methodologies.
  • Testing and validating mechanical, thermal, and motion systems for prototypes.
  • Managing project documentation and files effectively.
  • Leading risk assessments and implementing strategies to mitigate identified risks.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or substantial equivalent experience.
  • Experience in designing systems for extreme conditions, including ultra-high vacuum and cryogenic environments.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawings and 3D modeling, with familiarity in modern manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment processes and relevant directives.
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate ideas, present solutions, and engage in collaborative discussions.
  • A hands-on approach to research and development.

Candidates lacking direct experience in all areas will still be considered if they demonstrate a strong understanding of the underlying principles and a willingness to learn.
