The successful applicant will be a vital member of the community team, contributing to the Addictions Directorate. This service operates in partnership with various organizations, including non-profit entities that support recovery and rehabilitation efforts in the community.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a 6-session work week. Clinical responsibilities will be overseen by a Consultant Psychiatrist, who will provide guidance and support. Sufficient time will be allocated for Supporting Professional Activities, which includes Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities such as quality improvement initiatives, research, and training. The position is primarily based at the main service hub, with some responsibilities at an additional location.

Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust's Addiction Directorate is a prominent, multidisciplinary provider of addiction services, catering to a diverse population. We offer a wide array of high-quality treatment options, including specialized clinics for club drugs and gambling addiction.

Our services extend across multiple boroughs, providing recovery-focused interventions within vibrant community-based teams and in collaboration with non-statutory providers. We are dedicated to delivering evidence-based treatments and have established strong connections with academic institutions to support research and innovative practices.

Job Duties

As a member of the multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Participate in patient assessments and contribute to the delivery and evaluation of treatment plans.
  • Be responsible for daily medical assessments and clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with keyworkers to coordinate patient care.
  • Provide clinical guidance to team members during one-on-one interactions and within team meetings.
  • Manage patients undergoing detoxification for substance dependence.
  • Initiate and maintain patients on opiate substitute treatment (OST).
  • Conduct mental health evaluations for patients.
  • Address patients' physical health needs through appropriate examinations and referrals.
  • Support Non-Medical Prescribers and collaborate with nursing leadership to enhance these roles.
  • Engage in training for staff and students in the service.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Full GMC registration and current license to practice.
  • Completion of at least one year of relevant hospital or community-based service.
  • Experience in psychiatry.

Desirable

  • MRCPsych (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Experience in addiction treatment settings.
  • Experience in quality improvement initiatives.
