Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Fire Engineer to join our Fire Engineering Team in Manchester. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in providing strategic fire safety advice and developing fire safety strategies that satisfy the functional requirements of the building regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing fire safety strategies during design and construction stages
  • Preparing technical engineering analysis using relevant guidance documents and methods
  • Supporting the team in developing technical knowledge
  • Carrying out site visits when required
  • Attending internal and external meetings
  • Overseeing and managing projects from inception to completion
  • Liaising with clients on a daily basis

Requirements:

  • A degree in Fire Engineering or similar, membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalent
  • Proven experience working in a similar role
  • Excellent all-round knowledge of Part B of the Building Regulations, Fire Safety Order, and other relevant legislation and fire design guidance documents
  • A proven background in fire safety engineering with an understanding of fire engineered solutions
  • Good problem-solving/contingency planning skills with the ability to find quick, innovative, and practical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit different audiences
