The Cybersecurity Risk Consultant plays a crucial role in aiding the identification, evaluation, and documentation of Cybersecurity risks to ensure they are effectively managed.
The individual in this position must possess the ability to convey technical risks and challenges in clear, business-oriented language, assisting the organization in comprehending the risks and challenges that may affect their operational areas.
This role also involves providing the organization with specialized risk management guidance as needed, in addition to collaborating with the Cyber Risk Manager to ensure the Cyber Risk Management Framework is implemented across the organization and functions efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Offer expert knowledge for initiatives and projects in alignment with the long-term Cyber strategy and transformation efforts to ensure that risks are managed in accordance with the organization's risk appetite.
- Evaluate risks against the organization's risk appetite by engaging and influencing stakeholders, articulating complex issues to encourage deeper analysis.
- Analyze risks and mitigating controls across various technologies, technical interdependencies, and data flows. Identify risks and evaluate potential mitigating actions to advance the cybersecurity enhancement agenda.
- Ensure that cybersecurity risks are identified, assessed, and that mitigating actions are agreed upon across various departments to maintain acceptable risk levels.
- Assist in the operation of an effective Cyber Risk Management system for managing actions and mitigations of risk on data for the organization’s annual reporting, overseen by the Audit and Risk Committee.
- Support the broader Technology team in enhancing risk awareness and upskilling key personnel to integrate risk management thinking throughout the technology division.
- Facilitate the identification of key risk metrics that can serve as predictive indicators to signal changes in risk status and enable proactive mitigating actions before risks materialize.
Influencing Skills: Strong influencing and negotiation skills to build trust and confidence at various organizational levels, utilizing professional judgment to make risk-based recommendations and decisions within established parameters.
Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical capabilities with the ability to grasp the overarching picture while applying relevant details. Ability to distill complex information and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
Communication Skills: Proven ability to articulate Cyber Risks clearly within the organization in both verbal and written formats. Ability to innovate and tailor messaging and delivery methods for diverse audiences.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Comprehensive understanding of Cybersecurity management and practices.
In-depth knowledge of risk assessment and management methodologies.
Experience in conveying complex technical risks and issues in a clear, business-friendly manner, presenting information in a format that is easily digestible for key decision-makers.
Adaptability in thought and comfort with complexity, along with the patience and resilience to navigate change inertia.A strong commitment to supporting the organization’s objectives and aligning potentially conflicting agendas to effectively manage Cybersecurity risk within the organization’s risk appetite.
Eagerness to learn and gain further experience.Qualifications and Skills:
Recognized security-related certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC)
Proficiency in data analysis and MS Office tools
Familiarity with ISO 27001.
