About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our established Hand Therapy Service at Whittington Health NHS Trust. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care to patients with complex hand injuries and conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct advanced assessments of patients referred to the Hand Therapy Department, including those with acute, chronic, or complex conditions.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with a range of hand injuries and conditions, providing individualized treatment plans and interventions.
  • Supervise and educate students, as well as provide specialized advice and teaching to other healthcare professionals in the clinical area.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based practice, including audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Recognized degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Recent post-graduate training relevant to the post.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualities
  • Minimum of 18 months post-qualifying work experience in an NHS or Social Care setting.
  • Work or recent placement experience in an in-patient acute physical work setting.
  • Experience gained through rotations at band 5 level in at least 3 settings.
  • Experience of working in an Occupational Therapy Team or a Joint therapy team within a wider MDT.
