About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Public Health Consultant to join our team at NHS Scotland. As a key member of our Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate, you will play a crucial role in protecting the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in public health, with expertise in gastrointestinal infections and a proven track record of developing and implementing effective health protection strategies. You will work closely with our Gastrointestinal Infections team, as well as other topic teams such as Zoonosis and Public Health Microbiology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective health protection strategies to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal infections
  • Work closely with key stakeholders and colleagues nationally, regionally, and locally to identify and address health protection priorities
  • Provide leadership and management to the Gastrointestinal Infections team, including expertise in health protection response to outbreaks and evaluation of effectiveness of interventions
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Scotland to link into Scottish networking and coordination, such as the Scottish Health Protection Network
  • Use an evidence-based approach to inform the work of NHS Scotland and their partners, and have the skills to work with partners to drive forward change

Requirements:

  • Eligible as a competent person under the Public Health (Scotland) Act 2008
  • Current GMC/GDC/UKPHR registration at the time of applying
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and direct activities of others in a politically sensitive and changing environment
