Estates Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on maintenance and repair of complex systems. They will be responsible for performing planned and reactive maintenance, as well as repairs across our hospital sites.
Our Maintenance Technicians play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospitals, and we are committed to providing the necessary training and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
We welcome applications from experienced maintenance professionals, particularly those with a background in pipefitting, plumbing, or building services engineering.
The ideal candidate will have a time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical engineering services discipline, as well as experience in fault-finding, repair, and inspection of electrical and mechanical plant and systems.
They will also possess a strong understanding of technical, regulatory, and industry best practices, as well as a flexible approach to work and a keenness to develop their skillset and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities- Perform planned and reactive maintenance and repairs across our hospital sites
- Work with a range of complex systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of technical, regulatory, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure the smooth operation of our hospitals
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical engineering services discipline
- Experience in fault-finding, repair, and inspection of electrical and mechanical plant and systems
- Strong understanding of technical, regulatory, and industry best practices
- Flexible approach to work and a keenness to develop skills and knowledge
- Competent Person Sterilisation, Competent Person Washer/Disinfectors, Competent Person Confined spaces, Competent Person Steam, Competent Person Medical Gas, Competent Person Water Hygiene AP LV as per HTM 06-02
