We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head to join our Multilateral Trade and Environment team at the Department for Business and Trade. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing UK trade policy that supports the government's commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
Key Responsibilities- Lead policy development and analysis on trade policy tools to support environmental outcomes and deliver UK insights and positions in multilateral fora.
- Represent the United Kingdom and influence internationally, developing and representing UK positions in international engagements, including multilateral fora, and engaging with industry, academics, and international partners.
- Represent DBT in cross-government strategies and policies, influencing HMG policy in line with DBT trade and business interests.
- Build, maintain, and develop a cohesive team across grades and professions, including line management of 1-2 people.
- Experience of policy development and/or economic analysis in government or another context.
- Experience of engaging internationally.
- Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to contribute to team management, wellbeing, and building inclusive teams and environments.
- Ability to engage with technical material, including analytical data, economics, and legal materials.
- Collaborative approach to delivering outcomes, with a willingness to empower others to deliver.
- Ability to manage upwards and influence stakeholders.
