About the Role
As a key member of our Engineering Team, you will play a vital role in designing innovative solutions to meet the needs of our manufacturing operations. You'll collaborate closely with Quality, Design, and Production teams to drive process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of cutting-edge products.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the design, testing, procurement, and implementation of new machinery, equipment, jigs, and fixtures for heavy manufacturing and precision mechanical/electrical devices.
- Develop Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) solutions to optimize existing products and processes.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to ensure a seamless transition of new products into production.
- Provide technical support to the production maintenance team to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with Quality Engineering to investigate and resolve part quality issues, ensuring root cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Assess alternative component parts to ensure continuity of supply chain.
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in product development with a track record of released products.
- Experience working with, building, and/or designing special purpose machinery.
- Expertise in precision component design, including micron-level tolerances.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD systems (Solidworks experience is beneficial).
- Ability to produce high-quality manufacturing drawings with detailed tolerance and finishing specifications.
- Understanding of compliance and safety legislation, such as the Machinery Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive, PUWER Regulations & LOLER Regulations.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
