Controls Systems Engineer

Position Overview: As a pivotal member of our engineering team, you will take on the technical leadership for PLC control systems that are integral to the operation of advanced technologies, including hydrogen reactors, compressors, sensors, and valves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of PLC systems, utilizing existing PLC and HMI code as a foundation for future enhancements.
  • Collaborate with operators to gather and define PLC/HMI requirements.
  • Document control specifications in a user requirements specification (URS) for supplier implementation.
  • Engage with vendors and fellow engineers to obtain quotes for sensors and PLC components.
  • Develop innovative online dashboards using vendor software for real-time data reporting from PLCs.
  • Design remote access capabilities through vendor software solutions.
  • Provide guidance to technicians in the installation of components within the PLC system, including the creation of work instructions.
  • Assist team members in equipment operation, including fault diagnosis, data logger analysis, and system performance evaluation.
  • Support fault-finding and root-cause analysis initiatives.
  • Create electrical single line diagrams for PLC systems (preferred but not mandatory).

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience in controls engineering.
  • Proficiency in relevant software for PLC and HMI programming.
  • HND or Bachelor's degree (2:1) in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with software for creating electrical drawings.
  • Strong ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.
