Job Title: Apprentice Mechanical and CNC Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Mechanical and CNC Engineer to join our team at James Gray Recruitment.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Developing Client Briefs: Work closely with the Senior Engineer and Client to create detailed briefs of their mechanical and electrical building services requirements, producing reports that demonstrate a clear understanding of the Client's needs.
  2. Options Appraisal: Conduct thorough options appraisals and produce reports justifying recommendations to ensure client sign-off of brief.
  3. Project Team Management: Assist Senior Engineers in managing multidisciplinary project teams to deliver all internal aspects of the programme.
  4. Design and Delivery: Develop effective working relationships with the wider design team to ensure the construction project meets the client's needs.
  5. Tender Process: Manage the tender process to select the most appropriate contractors to deliver the project.
  6. Commercial Management: Assist in managing the commercial aspects of the project, ensuring effective cost controls and providing advice on project finances.
  7. Commissioning and Validation: Validate the commissioning process to ensure all products and services meet the required specifications.
  8. Handover and Review: Ensure the effective handover of the project from the contractor and conduct a review of H&S and risk assessments.
  9. Industry Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge of products and services to provide the best advice to clients.

Requirements:

  1. Degree qualified in an engineering subject with the ability to gain chartered status.
  2. Chartered Engineer status or working towards becoming Chartered is desirable.
  3. Experience of substantial, complex construction projects.
  4. Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel and email.
  6. Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering systems.
  7. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and low carbon design.
  8. Knowledge of Planning legislative requirements.
  9. Knowledge of specification, simulation and modelling techniques such as AutoCAD, IES, ESPR, NES, SBEM/SAP.
