We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highly Specialist Paediatric Speech Therapist to join our team at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Speech and Language Therapy department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with complex communication needs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of speech and language therapy services for children and young people with complex needs.
- Provide specialist clinical skills and expertise to manage the communication needs of a complex caseload of pupils with learning and physical disabilities.
- Work collaboratively with education staff, parents, and other healthcare professionals to set communication outcomes and targets as part of the child's EHCP and annual review process.
- Plan and deliver clinical sessions alongside other SaLT team staff, including training for staff and parents both face-to-face and online.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy, to provide comprehensive care and support.
- Offer home visits for children who are not currently in school and provide advice to post-16 settings.
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Evidence of continuing professional development via RCSLT log or portfolio.
- Evidence of further postgraduate short courses or training relevant to clinical caseload.
- Masters-level additional relevant qualification.
- Committee role or other active role within a Clinical Excellence Network.
- Certified trainer for relevant specialist areas, such as Attention Autism/Makaton/ADOS/TOMs.
- Coaching/mentoring or team leadership skills.
- Able to cope with exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances.
- Flexible approach to working hours and duties.
- Awareness of own communication style and ability to adapt to any situation.
- Able to travel across the Trust.
