Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Wigan

Milk Education is seeking to appoint long-term and day-to-day Teaching Assistants/Support Staff for Primary Schools throughout the Wigan area.

About the Role:

We are looking for individuals with previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting. This experience can be within the past 2 years and can include nurseries, youth centers, or working as a support worker with SEND adults or children.

The role involves supporting the class teacher in the day-to-day running of the classroom, working with groups of children, and working with SEND children on a one-to-one basis. The ideal candidate must be passionate, engaging, empathetic, and supportive while using their initiative on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the class teacher on a daily basis with tasks as required
  • Build a positive and supportive relationship with all children, colleagues, and parents
  • Use initiative and uphold strong behavior management
  • Support groups of children and work on a one-to-one basis
  • Adapt support style to suit individual needs
Requirements:
  • Strong English and Maths skills
  • Previous experience/knowledge of Phonics or willingness to learn Phonics
  • Previous experience of volunteering or working with children in the past 5 years
  • Eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
  • Two suitable references covering the last 2 years
  • Current DBS registered with the update service or willingness to apply for a new one
