About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Art Handler to join our team in London. As an Art Handler, you will be responsible for the safe handling, installation, movement, and storage of all works of art throughout our galleries and back-of-house areas. You will work closely with our Senior Art Handler, Head of Saleroom, and wider operations team to ensure the smooth running of auctions and provide exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe and efficient movement of artwork between and within Bonhams locations, in compliance with company manual handling and health and safety policies.
  • Support and assist departments to meet deadlines in preparation for public viewings, auctions, and events.
  • Install artworks and objects, requiring the use of hand and power tools.
  • Work at height on occasions and perform regular heavy lifting, including moving large paintings, sculpture, works of art, furniture, saleroom equipment, and display cabinets.
  • Be aware of all security aspects of the saleroom, including the monitoring of goods in the saleroom, loading bay, and other public areas.
  • Maintain a high degree of vigilance for the safe custody of goods on viewing and auction days, reporting any anomalies to the Senior Art Handler, Head of Saleroom, or Gallery Manager.
  • Ensure all key areas in the building are clear and operational at all times.
  • Provide excellent client service at all times.
  • Be aware of and follow all best practices concerning the handling of art and objects and health and safety controls in the workplace.
