About the Role
TikTok is seeking a highly motivated EU/UK qualified lawyer to support our growing Trust and Safety organisation. As a Lead Counsel - Regulatory Compliance, you will play a central role in the European legal team, handling complex legal issues and supporting the implementation of novel and high-profile laws in the European region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on TikTok's implementation of and compliance with the Online Safety Act and the Online Safety (OSA) and Media Regulation Act (OSMR), including driving the implementation of those laws and associated codes;
- Engage with regulatory bodies, such as Ofcom, in conjunction with the Government Relations team;
- Support the Trust and Safety organisation, advising on content moderation issues, content policies, and user safety-related legal matters;
- Collaborate with other in-house lawyers and the product legal team to review new products and features against relevant laws;
- Work closely with regulatory and litigation lawyers, product, public policy, and communications teams on regulatory matters and policy strategies, external communication, and investigations;
- Manage external counsel as necessary.
Requirements
- Senior Lawyer with at least 3+ years in a regulatory legal compliance role from a well-regarded private practice team or established in-house department;
- Background in consumer-facing tech and/or digital media, or a solid understanding of these industries from private practice;
- Experience advising on laws relating to user-generated content, including the Digital Services Act and OSMR in the EU and Online Safety Bill in the UK;
- Ability to manage a large number and variety of high-profile and strategic projects and navigate ambiguous legal and regulatory environments;
- Previous experience of advising on the practical implementation of new laws;
- Ability to work as a team player who can effectively work with, manage, and coordinate colleagues, internal stakeholders, and the business;
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proficient in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organisation.
