The role of a Visitor Experience Officer revolves around engaging with individuals, motivating them, and ensuring they enjoy their visit to the fullest. If you have a passion for connecting with diverse groups and are enthusiastic about the mission to preserve and nurture places where both people and nature can flourish, this position may be ideal for you.

This role is structured for 30 hours per week (4 full days).

Responsibilities will include management duties and working one weekend out of four, on a scheduled basis, along with some public holidays.

This is a fixed-term position, concluding when the current employee returns from their temporary assignment.



Work Environment

Snowshill is a unique location: a retreat from the conventional, showcasing the distinctive home of the creative Charles Wade. An architect and collector, Wade began his journey of gathering treasures at a young age. His home at Snowshill is filled with an eclectic mix of items collected throughout his life, reflecting his vibrant personality and artistic vision.
The Manor is surrounded by a beautifully designed Arts and Crafts garden, featuring terraced garden rooms and even a model village. While personal transportation is necessary to reach this location, it offers the opportunity to work in a stunning rural setting.

Key Responsibilities

As a Visitor Experience Officer, your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional service to guests. Collaborating with your team, you will welcome visitors and encourage them to explore the wonders of Snowshill Manor and Garden. This may involve planning and executing events and activities, as well as creating engaging displays that bring the site's history and stories to life.

You may also oversee and assist volunteers, manage schedules, and ensure high standards of presentation throughout the site.

Additionally, you will participate in the duty management rotation, working one weekend every four weeks during the season.



Candidate Profile

We are interested in candidates who possess the following qualities:

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a wide range of individuals
  • Dedicated and reliable team player
  • Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office, web, and social media platforms
  • Experience in creating interpretive materials, such as displays and promotional content
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols
