About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Amazon Web Services team. As a key member of our data centre operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate and Maintain Electrical and Mechanical Equipment: Ensure the efficient operation of all electrical and mechanical equipment, including generators, switchboards, UPS systems, and building automation systems.
  2. Troubleshoot Facility and Rack-Level Events: Identify and resolve issues with facility and rack-level equipment within internal service level agreements.
  3. Perform Routine Maintenance Tasks: Conduct regular maintenance tasks, including filter changes, HVAC PMs, rack power installs, and rack ATS replacements.
  4. Support Data Centre Operations Technicians: Collaborate with data centre operations technicians to ensure seamless operation of our data centres.
  5. Analyse Equipment Failures: Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures to identify areas for improvement.
  6. Ensure Safety Procedures are Adhered to: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety procedures and protocols.
  7. Work Rotating Shifts: Work a 12-hour shift, rotating between 3 and 4-day work weeks, days, and nights.
  8. Take Daily Operational Readings: Record daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds and log-taking.
  9. Manage Building Workflows and Spare Parts: Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory.
  10. Supervise Contractors: Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
  11. Respond to Off-Hour Emergency Calls: Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any of the region's sites.
  12. Comply with Physical Security Procedures: Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Technical Training or Relevant Experience: Commutable to the Thames Valley Region, with the ability to work in cramped and/or elevated locations with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word) and web-based operational tools.
  • Familiarity with BMS and EPMS Control Systems: Familiarity with BMS and EPMS control systems and data collection/trending.
  • Maintenance Management Software: Proficient with maintenance management software.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • 4+ Years of Data Centre Engineering Experience: 4+ years of data centre engineering experience and a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • Fundamental Knowledge of Network Design and Layout: Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low-voltage (copper/fibre) cabling.
  • Valid Driver's License and Vehicle: A valid driver's license, own vehicle, and the ability to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles.
