Role Overview:

This position presents a unique opportunity for a qualified primary teacher with experience in SEND to advance their career. As the SENCO, you will be responsible for spearheading our SEND initiatives, ensuring that all students, especially those with significant needs, receive the appropriate support. You will also oversee and mentor a committed team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), guaranteeing that every child benefits from personalized assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the SEND strategy within the school, evolving from a teaching role to a leadership capacity.
  • Design and execute individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
  • Work collaboratively with educators, families, and external specialists to provide effective support for SEND students.
  • Supervise and develop a team of SEND LSAs, offering guidance and professional growth opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere for all students.
  • Evaluate and track student progress, modifying strategies and interventions as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to SEND regulations and institutional policies.
  • Deliver training and resources to staff on inclusive teaching methodologies and best practices for SEND.
  • Serve as a primary contact for families regarding SEND services and student advancement.

Requirements:

  • Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and supporting students with SEND, particularly those with significant needs.
  • A strong aspiration to transition into a SENCO role, coupled with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • A dedication to inclusive education, with the capacity to motivate and assist both students and staff.
  • Creativity, patience, and a proactive mindset towards problem-solving.
