Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Support Worker to join our team at a residential home providing accommodation, support, and care for people with brain injury and complex needs. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our service users to lead a full and valued life, contributing to a homely environment, and enabling them to participate in and contribute to the local community.

Main Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain professional working relationships with service users, contributing to the creation of a homely and pleasant living environment

• Facilitate daily routines, including personal care, promoting a high standard of personal hygiene

• Participate in the development of service user support plans, risk assessments, and programmes

• Implement individual support plans to meet the needs of service users, highlighting any issues or concerns to the Team Leader

• Enable service users to access and utilise resources and activities available within their local and wider communities

• Act as a Keyworker for designated service users, liaising closely with relevant staff regarding individual programmes

• Report any enquiries, issues, or concerns to the line manager, providing information to enable them to take appropriate action

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Experience of supporting a service through a phase of growth and improvement

• Skilled at supporting staff through tools such as supervisions and observations to give excellent quality care

• Skilled at supporting staff to make full, meaningful, and appropriate records

• Skilled at incident reporting

• Boundaried, dignified, and able to keep own counsel

• Genuine empathy for residents, with positivity, patience, and resilience to support them through challenging times

• Excellent face-to-face communication skills and a good standard of literacy

• Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload

Person Specification

• Essential:

+ Brainkind has employed new management to support the service

+ Experience of supporting a service through a phase of growth and improvement

+ Skilled at supporting staff through tools such as supervisions and observations to give excellent quality care

+ Skilled at supporting staff to make full, meaningful, and appropriate records

+ Skilled at incident reporting

+ Key opportunity to join the local leadership team in driving quality improvements and cultural change

+ Boundaried, dignified, and able to keep own counsel

+ Have genuine empathy for our residents, with the positivity, patience, and resilience to support them through the challenging times of their rehabilitation

+ Enjoy teamwork and take pride in getting a job done well alongside colleagues

+ Have excellent face-to-face communication skills and a good standard of literacy

+ Have good time management skills and the ability to prioritise own workload

• Desirable:

+ Full driving licence

+ Team working

+ Experience of working within a care environment

+ Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding

+ Work experience within the care setting
