Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Violence Specialist to join our team at Local Solutions. As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, you will play a critical role in providing a high-quality frontline service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a service to those at highest risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Assessment and Intervention
    • Conduct thorough risk assessments of domestic abuse victims using evidence-based checklists to identify and prioritize high-risk cases.
    • Develop and implement individual safety plans and provide pro-active crisis intervention services to high-risk victims.
  • Advocacy and Support
    • Advocate for high-risk victims with relevant agencies to address domestic abuse and ensure their safety.
    • Provide emotional and practical support, as well as information on legal options, housing, health, and finance.
  • Case Management and Coordination
    • Manage a caseload, ensuring each client receives the appropriate service tailored to their needs.
    • Coordinate safety plans with key agency partners, particularly through the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC).
  • Empowerment and Support
    • Support the empowerment of clients, helping them recognize the features and dynamics of domestic abuse in their situation.
    • Assist clients in regaining control of their lives and provide ongoing support to maintain their safety.
  • Multi-Agency Partnership and Collaboration
    • Work within a multi-agency setting, participating in MARAC and other partnership structures to design and implement plans to protect victims and their children.
    • Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to provide the best possible service for victims of domestic abuse.
  • Professional Development and Compliance
    • Stay up-to-date with organizational procedures, policies, and professional codes of conduct.
    • Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality, and information sharing policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Relevant Experience and Qualifications
    • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in areas around domestic violence.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
    • Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
    • Knowledge of IT systems and ability to maintain accurate and confidential case management records.
