We are seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant in Digital Transformation to join our team at BT Group. As a key member of our Research and Network Strategy team, you will play a critical role in driving innovation and delivering business value through research and development.
Key Responsibilities- Manage research projects and tasks, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-impact research outcomes.
- Develop and maintain intellectual property, including patent filing and exploitation, to drive business growth.
- Lead research in Intelligent Service Orchestration, defining and delivering high-value research across multiple domains.
- Supervise graduate and post-graduate student placements and secondments, providing guidance and support.
- Qualifications: Strong academic record in technology specialism with post-graduate qualification(s) (PhD or equivalent research experience).
- Storytelling with data: Strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques, and communicating effectively to business audiences.
- Technical domain expert: Evidence of significant knowledge and skill relevant to Intelligent Service Orchestration, including:
- Expertise in service orchestration and SD-WAN features
- Network automation and orchestration in frameworks and toolsets, including software development skills such as Java, Python, APIs
- Familiarity with layered service architectures
- Understanding of VNFM, NFVO, SDWAN
- Network programming skills, including YANG, JSON, etc.
- Expertise in Cloud computing, including OpenStack
- Automation data pipelines
- Expert in service orchestration industry standards
- Proven experience in researching and/or development in this area (MANDATORY)
- Significant delivery: Evidence of significant business impact through delivery of research (MANDATORY)
- Stakeholder management: Evidence of managing project stakeholders across the business at various grade and seniority levels (MANDATORY)
- Innovative Thinker: Ability to spot and identify new innovations and act to bring them in and capitalize on their value (MANDATORY)
- Commercial Applicability: Understanding of business case principles around relevant innovations and the real value to the business through value proposition build (MANDATORY)
- Self-starter, pro-actively working with minimal guidance
- Problem solving, intellectually curious, comfortable taking ownership and responsibility
