About the Position
Senior Electrical Engineer - IFA
The Operations division is tasked with ensuring the safe and effective functioning of IFA around the clock. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in guaranteeing that IFA assets (Converter Station, Cable Systems, Substation, and related Operational Technology) uphold the utmost standards of operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing various initiatives within IFA Link's high voltage electricity Converter Station, managing team members to ensure that safe operational practices are adhered to, and sharing your expertise to facilitate the completion of maintenance, refurbishment, or replacement tasks on a diverse range of machinery and equipment across IFA.
The current portfolio of Interconnectors includes IFA, IFA2, North Sea Link, and Viking Link. The role may involve occasional support and visits to these sites, with the possibility of international travel.
This position offers a unique chance to join the IFA team, which connects the electricity networks of Great Britain and France, contributing to the provision of affordable, clean, and secure energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of specific projects (acting as Project Leader / Subject Matter Expert) to enhance the performance of our assets and systems.
- Perform standby and emergency call-out duties, fulfilling the role of a Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
- Supervise Technicians and Third-Party Contractors to ensure maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards of environmental and safety performance.
- Foster a safety-oriented culture and ensure compliance with procedures across interconnectors.
About You
- Comprehensive knowledge of operations and/or failures in HV & LV systems, covering both electrical and mechanical aspects.
- Experience in making critical business and operational decisions under pressure and with competing priorities.
- Proven track record in delivering complex projects and familiarity with fundamental project management techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of establishing credibility and influencing teams effectively.
- Minimum educational qualification of HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline.
