As a pivotal member of the engineering team, the Solutions Architect will contribute to a significant Government initiative. Your role will involve overseeing various modifications and ensuring that each solution seamlessly integrates with existing mission-critical legacy systems while fulfilling customer requirements, including functionality, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
In this capacity, you will guide fellow engineering team members to guarantee that the design is comprehensive and that the detailed design work aligns with your overarching designs.
Additionally, the Solutions Architect will play a crucial role in facilitating Cloud migration efforts, offering expertise to the cloud migration team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define a technical solution that meets client expectations within the project's constraints of cost, schedule, and risk.
- Produce high and low-level designs that the engineering team can utilize to construct a compliant solution.
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Lead Systems Engineer to ensure deliverable solutions.
- Represent the organization on customer governance boards.
- Act as the primary contact for customer technical inquiries and requirements clarification.
Accountability:
- Accountable to the Program Chief Engineer for the coherence of all system designs and technical proposals, ensuring they align with specified contractual requirements.
- Responsible to the Projects Programme Manager for defining a solution that is achievable within the constraints of cost, schedule, and quality.
- Accountable to the Program Chief Architect for ensuring that the solution aligns with the broader enterprise architecture, strategy, and customer-approved technical roadmap.
Authority:
- Empowered to approve customer requirements and technical designs.
- Engage with customers to clarify requirements and discuss how they can be met.
As a leader, you should foster an environment where team members feel safe to express their ideas, actively listen, and advocate for positive change and innovation.
Required Skills:
- Proven ability to independently develop technical solutions to customer challenges.
- Provide overarching architectural guidance.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure within large, multidisciplinary teams adhering to tight schedules.
- Experience leading architecture and engineering teams within larger projects.
- Strong engagement skills with stakeholders across various business areas, including product design, service design, operations, and the customer.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills to convey complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience in developing solutions within mission-critical or business-critical environments.
- Familiarity with infrastructure technologies and security frameworks.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of Linux and Windows environments and application hosting.
- Experience in security management and service architecture.
- Familiarity with SAFe/Agile delivery methodologies.
Clearance Required:
- Due to the nature of the project, candidates must be UK Nationals and will be required to obtain SC clearance.
