Role Summary:
In the role of Composite Manufacturing Technician, you will be under the guidance of the Production Supervisor, engaging in a variety of responsibilities associated with the fabrication of composite materials and assemblies. The successful candidate will possess a background in utilizing advanced prepreg materials and will be adept at constructing composite assemblies through the use of adhesives and mechanical fastening techniques.
Primary Duties:
- Prepare and clean mould tools for the curing process.
- Measure, cut, and lay up composite materials within mould tools.
- Operate and manage industrial curing ovens, autoclaves, and presses.
- Conduct core filling operations before and after the curing phase.
- Assemble composite components utilizing adhesives and mechanical fasteners.
- Finish and refine components and assemblies using hand tools, including linishing and countersinking.
- Uphold a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the workspace.
- Assist colleagues with additional tasks and provide training as needed.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to established Health and Safety protocols.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace sector is preferred.
- Background in a manufacturing setting (e.g., engineering, boatbuilding, woodworking, mechanical work).
- Familiarity with composite layup and laminating processes.
- Proven practical skills in a hands-on environment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering schematics.
