Role Overview:

The Solar Construction Project Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the internal project team during the pre-construction phase. This includes:

  • Leading the management of an internal project team prior to the execution of construction contracts.
  • Collaborating closely with the development team to facilitate the discharge of planning conditions.
  • Assisting the procurement team in preparation for contract finalizations.
  • Preparing essential pre-construction documentation and key Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) documents.
  • Developing and maintaining the pre-construction risk register, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensuring contractor proposals align with project requirements and expectations.
  • Overseeing compliance with Client duties under the Construction (Design and Management) regulations.
  • Embedding a robust health and safety culture and policies within project frameworks.
  • Managing various construction contracts, including those with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) suppliers and other contractors.
  • Handling Client responsibilities such as managing planning variations and coordinating equipment logistics.
  • Reviewing and monitoring contractual variations and extensions of time.
  • Regularly updating and reviewing key project management documents.
  • Coordinating engineering resources and contractors to implement commissioning and energization plans.
  • Working with the commercial operations team on revenue readiness initiatives.
  • Supporting pre-qualification processes for the Capacity Market.
  • Ensuring the appointed Asset Manager is prepared for operational activities.
  • Monitoring project budgets and forecasting future expenditures.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in managing the construction delivery of Solar projects (minimum of two).
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Proactive and pragmatic approach to health, safety, and quality management.
  • Solid commercial acumen.
  • Thorough understanding of construction safety and CDM regulations.
  • Experience in managing contractor deliverables within FIDIC, NEC, or similar contract frameworks.
